CoreopTips® are for hand rolling and machine rolling applications. They come from a plant called Coreopsis tripteris, native to the Eastern and Midwestern United States.
Why is Coreopsis tripteris special?
It is a native perennial that grows in degraded soil, tolerates frequent disturbance, and provides food for pollinators and birds.
Using the incredibly sturdy stem of C. tripteris as a starting point, we aim to design a whole range of useful products that can compete with less sustainable alternatives, restore farm soil and provide food and habitat for a diversity of animals.
In one season these plants grow a hollow stem that can reach 8 feet tall. In the mid to late summer, each individual blossoms with dozens of bright gold flowers that are a preferred food source for native honey bees and bumblebees. The seeds are also a prized commodity for small birds.
Come fall we chop down the woody stems so that next year it happens all over again! Thats the beauty of perennials. The stems are carefully dried and cured before being processed in a clean room where they are cut to length and packaged in food safe, compostable packaging.
